Keyword Help

Although we have input over 1 million words and phrases every day you catch us out by using a slightly different version of our words or phrase. Please do not give up - either use our Advanced search, or try a different word, or view our pictures by Image Topics or View All Images .

Please note - if you use the keyword search facility the results will show any picture containing that word. For example if you key in 'happy' the pictures for 'happy' and 'un happy' will be displayed. If you want to ensure only an exact match appears then use the SEARCH button at the top of each page. You will then be given a number of options including 'exactly matches' in the dropdown box adjacent to your preferred keyword.

If you know the Image Ref (i.e. the pictures unique reference number) - just type that into the Keywords/Image ref search box (top left of each page).

Search Results

The search results will be displayed as thumbnail images (i.e. small pictures). The number of images found from the search will be displayed.

' view as image names only ' - This link provides a list of the image names (i.e. brief description of the image and the respective Image REF (a unique image reference number)).

If Image names are displayed you may left click on an Image Ref to display the image.

The images on the website are watermarked prior to purchase to avoid copyright infringement . The images are not watermarked on the CD rom.

Using our Images

There are many professional tutorials that can be found on line giving comprehensive instructions on inserting graphics and pictures into Word documents etc. Exact details may vary according to your computer or version of software in use. It may be that your own organisation’s IT department have produced a Service Users Guide to cover these very points. All this considered we have provided some general tips that we hope are useful for most circumstances.

Downloading and saving a PDF onto your computer

Once you have found the image you are looking for, click the small icon that looks like this: you will then be asked whether you wish to 'Save As' or 'Open' here are the difference between the two:

'Save As' - will allow you to save the file to your desktop or other location you specify on your computer. This is ideal if you are going to send this to someone else or wish keep a copy of this image on your computer for use later.

'Open' - will do exactly that, you will need to make sure you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer to open this kind of file. You can download it here

Adding a PDF to your documents

One quite straightforward way of adding a PDF to a document is as follows:

Open the PDF image of your choice.
Click the snapshot tool displayed in the tool bar
Click the PDF image to add the picture to your office clipboard
Open the Word, PowerPoint presentation or document of your choice
Click Edit, and select office clipboard
On the right hand side of screen see display of the PDF image/item on your office clipboard
Click on the item displayed on the office clipboard to paste PDF image onto the document of your choice
